“Z” is for Zentangle

Today is the last day of the #BloggingAtoZ challenge for April 2016. That means today’s letter is “Z”.  For the past year, I have been trying new things and discovering new things I want to try.  Zentangling is one of those things I want to try. It is a way of drawing using structured patterns.  Many, many years ago, I believe I tried doodling in such a manner.  Unfortunately, I do not have any of those early endeavors to share with you.  I have been spending time participating in various blog challenges and during one of those challenges, I came across the blog of someone who was doing zentangles.  When I saw their work, I was intrigued about the idea. I began investigating and found there are numerous resources for learning how to zentangle.  This includes websites, courses and books on Amazon.  For example, here is a book for beginners on Amazon.

Zentangle basics

There are sites to find zentangle instructions along with sites to find zentangles to color.  If all goes well, maybe in the near future I will be able to share some zentangles of my own with you.

So what does the letter “z” bring to mind for you?  I would love to hear from you.  I hope you have enjoyed my Blogging A to Z series.  Now it is time to keep writing for the #Write365 challenge.

“Y” is for Youth and Yesterdays

Today is the next to the last installment of the Blogging A to Z challenge for April 2016.  So that makes the letter of the day “Y”.  “Y” for me represents youth, yesterday’s, and yelling.

Oh to still have the exuberance and energy of youth.  I watch my children and notice the amount of energy they have and wish I could keep up with them.  There is never a dull moment with them around.

“Y” is also for yesterday.  It is nice to have memories to look back on through the years.  I love looking back and seeing how our children have grown and changed.  The thoughts and ideas they have amaze me at times.  The “yesterday”, when I watched my husband baptize our oldest two,  brings tears of joy and happiness to mind.  Watching our oldest participate last year in the CHAP homeschool graduation brings back memories of so many “yesterdays” when he did this or that or was first born.  These memories of yesterday will stay with me.

So what does “y” bring to mind for you?  I would love to hear from you.

“X” is for X-rays

So today is another installment of the #BloggingAtoZ challenge, and the letter for today is “x”.  “X” for me brings to mind memories of x-rays.  Through the years, I have experienced a number of x-rays – both as a patient as well as either the spouse or mother of a patient.  One of my sister-in-laws works as an x-ray technician.  Some x-rays are not too bad.  Others like when I had to have my knees x-rayed for my arthritis are down-right painful.  The positions are awkward, the amount of time to maintain the position is painful and still others are just irritating to have done (like dental x-rays).

I have had normal x-rays, ultrasounds, CAT scan and MRIS, including an esophageal ultrasound of my heart.  While they are all different, they each come with their own set of challenges.

So what does “x” bring to mind for you?  I would love to hear from you.

“W” is for Worship & for Weather

So I am counting down to the end of the #BloggingAtoZ challenge for April 2016 and today’s letter is “w”.  For me, “w” stands for worship and weather.  Worship to me involves anything and everything that deals with expressing a love for my God.  I can worship alone, in small groups, or in large crowds.  Anytime and anyplace is perfect for worshipping God.  I love to sing, so singing old hymns or some more modern Praise and Worship songs is perfect for getting close to God. I feel this Scripture is an excellent representation of why I worship the Lord.

Psalm138 2

For me, right now I also feel “w” represents weather.  For the last several years, we have experienced a variety of weather situations.  We have seen snow, hail, ice, wind, rain, sleet, freezing rain, warm or even down-right hot temperatures, pleasant temperatures along with cool or cold temperatures.  But that was in Pennsylvania.  Now we are in southeast Texas, and it seems like we are already seeing only four real types of weather:  pleasant with sunshine, rain, hot, or hot and humid.  I have a feeling it is going to get interesting for a while.  Living in Pennsylvania, we did not have to worry a lot about tornadoes, but I do not think the same can be siad for where we are now.

So what does “w” stand for you?  I would love to hear from you.

“U” is for Undeniable

Today begins the final week of the #BloggingAtoZ challenge for April 2016.  The letter for today is “u”.  For me right now, “u” is for undeniable.  It is undeniable I serve a undeniably loving and powerful God.  He loved us so much that He sent His only begotten son to be a Savior for a lost world.  How amazing is that?

I have an undeniably amazing husband.  He is loving, understanding and a wonderful husband and father.  He is truly my best friend.

I have undeniably inventive and creative sons.  There is never a dull moment around our home.  They are definitely creative and resourceful.

Finally, I have an undeniably loving daughter.  She is a “mini me” in many ways.  We share some the same traits and characteristics.  She is very loving.

I have an undeniably blessed life.  So what does “u” bring to mind for U?

“T” is for Texas, Travel, Thrills and Thankfulness

So here is another post for #BloggingAtoZ challenge for April 2016, and today’s letter is T.  For me, “t” is for Texas, thrills and thankfulness.  First, it is for Texas since we just made Texas our home for the next few years thanks to the Army Reserves transferring us here.

“T” is also for thrills.  Most years for our anniversary, we take the entire family and go to Fort Eustis to stay in a cabin and get some thrills visiting Busch Gardens.  My children have followed in my footsteps with a love of roller-coasters, which of course provide a lot of thrills.

Water rides provide a different type of thrill – the thrill of getting cooled off on a hot day and they having to figure out how to dry off.

Finally, t is for thankfulness.  One example, is being thankful our son was fixed up quickly and did not find the entire procedure too horrible when we had to go to the hospital shortly after moving to Texas.  Here is a picture of him in the Emergency Room.

We are told in the Bible to be thankful, such as in the book of Ephesians 5:20.  So I want to choose to be thankful today for what I have, including my family.

So what comes to mind for you when you see the letter “t”?  I would love to hear from you.

“R” is for Rebecca, Roses and

Today is another day in the #BloggingAtoZ challenge.  The letter for today is “R”, which stands for Rebecca and Roses.

Rebecca is our only daughter and is our youngest.  She loves to dance.

She enjoyed dancing with her brother in the fall.

She also loves to draw.  Here are some she drew.

And she loves her brothers.

“R” is also for roses, like the ones in the flowers I received from my children as an early birthday present.

And finally, “r” is for rainbows – like the one we saw driving from Fort Lee in Virginia to Pennsylvania.

So what comes to mind for you when you see the letter “r”?

“Q” is for Quitters, Quiet and Quilting

So here is another post for #BloggingAtoZ.  Today’s letter is “q”, which is for quitters, quit, and quilting.

“Q” is for quitters, and that is something I do not want to be known for at all.  I want to bee able to say I complete what I start.  However, that is not always the case.  This week I started participating in the newest study with the Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study community.  We are doing the book, “5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit” by Nicki Koziarz.

I have read the first two chapters so far and am loving this book.  It speaks to my heart and soul. It is definitely worth reading.

“Q” is also for quiet, something my house never is with four children.  However, peace and quiet is something my soul longs for at times.  It is something I know I need at times.  Other times, the quiet seems deafening – like when the children become involved in what they are doing that I do not even know what they are doing.  Then, of course, there are times when silence is a wonderful thing – like the various camping trips we have taken

Finally, “Q” is for quilting.  For a number of years, I have longed to actively pursue quilting.  It speaks to my soul through the colors, patterns and the joy of piecing together by hand quilt tops.  I finished a quilt top with strips, but have not finished sewing it together yet.  I enjoyed putting it together. I have started on a quilt top for my daughter.

So what does “q” bring to mind to you?

“P” is for Partners, Patience and Persistence

Today is another day of the “Blogging A to Z” challenge and the letter for today is “P”.  “P” is for partners.  My husband is the love of my life and my best friend.  We are partners in every sense of the word.  He is an amazing husband and father.  He leads our family in the fear and admonition of the Lord.  I am so blessed to have him in my life.

“P” is also for patience.  Over the past few months, I have had to learn to be patient.  From the moment, we received the notification that we should be receiving our orders for Texas, through months of waiting to receive the orders, to months of trying to find a home and preparing for our actual move, we needed patience.  Then we had to deal with patience for actually moving in the house and preparing to have our belongings delivered.  Then I had to have patience with getting everything transferred to our new state and learning the navigate the order we needed to do things.

Finally, “p” is for persistence.  While going through the move to Texas, I learned to have persistence.  We needed to have persistence in finding a home.  Then we needed persistence in getting ready for the move.  We needed the persistence to find a way to get through flooding in Lousiana on our way to Texas.  Finally, we needed the persistence to get everything changed to Texas.  This meant we had to do the steps in the order they required and provide the documentation they needed.  At the same time, we needed to have persistence to stand up for the documentation we had on hand.

So what does “P” bring to mind for you?  I would love to hear from you.
