Today is day 24 of the #31DaystoWrite, NaBloPoMo and Ultimate Blog challenges and I am still here writing. Today I want to continue my #ScripturesofFatih series with 1 Corinthians 15:17, which states, “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain’ ye are yet in your sins,” Here is a Scripture graphic I created for this verse.
What this verse says to me is that if we don’t believe in Christ dying on the Cross and being Resurrected for our sins, then we really don’t have faith. Instead anything we might think we believe would be futile. For if we do not believe in the Resurrection, than we are still in our sinful nature. It means we do not believe in Christ with all our mind, strength, soul and body. We are not given the luxury to decide what parts of the Bible to believe and what parts we can leave behind. It is an all or nothing equation. Either we believe word is true, OR we do not believe. God does not give freedom or flexibility when it comes to His Word. For all Scripture is God-Breathed – or God-inspired. While mortal men might have “written” it, it came by God’s inspiration and direction.
You see as much as we might want to hear God speak to us in a loud and clear voice, that just does not happen. Instead, He may speak to us through quiet whispers to our souls or through others who are close to us or even by what we read in the Bible. I can remember watching and listening to one of the dearest preachers I have ever known (and no I am not talking about my husband). This gentleman was the one who first asked Dennis to speak. He was the man who married us. He also played a role in dedicating all four of our children. He was like a father to me and a grandfather to our children, which thanks to my dad stepping out of my life when our youngest two were little. This man would often get up to preach and would state he really did not have anything to say. Then he would take his Bible and just let it fall open to a passage on the pulpit. Because he studied his Bible with his whole heart, soul and mind, this worked for him. God directed his steps and those were some of the best sermons I ever heard – simply because they came from his heart and the heart of God.
If there is anything you would like me to pray for, leave me a comment. If this spoke to you in some way, leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you. May God bless you today.
